HSE/GED Test Prep Classes

Prepare for the GED for free with HCDE!

  • Welcome to HCDE Adult Education – Your Path to a GED Starts Here!

    We can help you pass the GED exam and earn your high school equivalency certificate. With HCDE Adult Education, you will get:

    • Help in core GED subjects: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies

    • Free class materials provided

    • Free GED test vouchers (eligibility required)

    • Class options in English and Spanish

    • In-person and virtual class formats to fit your schedule

Eligibility Requirements

    • Proof of citizenship or legal resident status (for example, unrestricted REAL Texas ID or Driver's License.) Review a complete list of acceptable documents

    • Be at least 19, to register for class

      • If you are 18 or 17 years of age, you must be officially withdrawn from public school and have parental consent.

      • At 16, you must submit a court order that indicates you are ordered to get a GED.

    • Live in Harris or Liberty County

    • Attend orientation and registration

    • Commit to attending every class

    • Have access to technology (computer, smartphone, tablet, and internet)

     

Virtual GED Classes

    • Live instruction through Zoom with real-time support from a teacher

    • Classes are available in both English and Spanish

    • Orientation is required and details are sent via email one week before registration

    • To be considered, check upcoming registration schedule and fill out the interest survey – registration is invite-only and space is limited

In-Person GED Classes

    • Held at designated locations across Harris County

    • Registration is in person only and spots are limited – first come, first served

    • Classes meet 2 days a week for 3 hours each day
